‘Inception’ – Its actual inception.

Christopher Nolan’s ‘Inception’ is touted to be the 2011’s Oscar winner of ‘best film’ and ‘best director’ awards! Everyone in the town is talking about the If you haven’t seen the picture here is the synopsis put in IMDB by the producers:

If you haven’t seen the picture here is the synopsis put in IMDB by the producers:

“Dom Cobb is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible-inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming. Written by Warner Bros. Pictures

My point is in the Hindi Film Industry context. You see this industry is named Bollywood because everyone here lifts a Hollywood film, makes it into a half cooked bad Hindi copy and shamelessly flaunts it as his biggest and brightest film. The producers, be they big studios or small timers, find it safe to put their money behind stars and tested film scripts (a Hollywood film of course – or for that matter Chinese, Hong Kong,  Korean, Malaysian pot boilers) rather than searching for new ideas, good concepts and good writers!

When on a vacation, I and my friend had discussed this idea of Dream stealing (as well as planting those into others’ imaginations) back 2003. We made it into a beautiful film script over two years and started running to the producers along with our other scripts. But none of them thought that an interesting film can be made with such a simple idea!

My script is gathering dusts lying on the self. Everyday I look at it and feel why it isn’t translated in to screen yet. Now that mega budget Hollywood film like Inception has come out by a heavy weight Director, I really think I should slap on the faces of those so called creative people of Bollywood!

Guys Christopher Nolan stole my ideas!!!! …boohooooooo   Anybody listening! ???
